what is involved in Ayurvedic facial massage?

Before your massage, you will first be asked a few questions to ensure that an Ayurvedic facial Massage is right for you. Your Ayurvedic facial massage consists of a cleanse and facial steam, ayurvedic facial massage, an exfoliation and mask, rejuvenating oils and a Marma point massage.

what do I need to do after my Ayurvedic facial massage?

Drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol and heavy food for 24 hours. As with all therapies involving massage, you may experience slight tiredness or mild flu-like symptoms for up to 24 hours afterwards due to the toxin release from your body. After any facial treatment we ask that you avoid applying cosmetics or other skincare products for as long as possible afterwards to enhance the benefits of the treatment.

when can't I have Ayurvedic facial massage?

You will need to tell your therapist if you suffer from any of the following:

  • High temperature, fever, swelling or inflammation
  • Skin disorders e.g. eczema in foot, leg or hand areas, or sunburnt or sensitive skin
  • Bruising in the head, neck or shoulder areas
  • Recent whiplash injuries to the head, neck or shoulder areas
  • Infectious illnesses such as cold, flu or chest infection
  • Uncontrolled blood pressure
  • Osteoporosis, aneurosa, cancer, HIV or AIDS, diabetes, spondylitis or spondylosis in the neck
  • Recent concussion
  • Are in the first three months of pregnancy

In addition, if you have epilepsy or low blood pressure, please let your therapist know so your head massage can be altered to suit you. You will not be able to have an Ayurvedic facial massage prior to or after surgery.
